i dont the doctor was guilty - jacko was a druggie and i think ppl need to start putting responsibility where it belongs - to the ppl that hurt themselves. we have to have some kind of control in our lives.

But isn't the doctor in a special position of responsibility where his patient has entrusted him to treat him a competent and proper manner? By all accounts, and from what I've seen of the evidence, this guy was beyond incompetent. Regardless of whether his patient was a druggie or not, he still had to carry out his duties in a competent and professional manner - which he clearly didn't and cause the man's death.

Doctors give palliative and other patients high doses of morphine or narcs all the time and leave them unattended all the TIME.
I dont think he is responsible - this was Jacksons normal routine with the doc...i just think this time it took him...it was an accident and it was intentional.
at best he should have had a suspension from practice, back to med school to learn how and what drugs belong where, when to administer and how - at his own cost. He should have probably paid some damages to the family - the kids and most importantly - i think the public humiliation and distrust of this man was enough to destroy his career.
jail time? i dont think so.

I hear you. But in our criminal justice system that blaise attitude by those doctors you mentioned is a crime (whether we like it or not) if the patient dies. Let's see if he appeals.
