I do not posses one of my own, but I did buy an OUYA console when it first came out for the same purposes. So I can give you a few pros vs cons about the whole idea of a smart media center.

Pros:
It's cheaper than paying for DVD's and DirecTV
It turns any TV into a smart TV
I'm pretty sure you won't watch another movie on TV again

Cons:
If your internet connection is bad/falls down, it becomes just as useless as a pretty-shaped rock

But I'll never regret buying it. I bought it a long time ago and my little sisters still use it everyday:D
