Police are investigating the murder of Colin Perreira, 25 years of  Kitty, and attempted murder of Gail Ann Chacon, 20 years, which occurred about 2110h. last night, at Perry Street, Tucville.
Police say that initial investigations revealed that Perreira who was driving a heavily tinted motor car, with the other victim seated in the front passenger seat, attempted to turn around the vehicle, on the space in front the suspect’s residence. In the process, the suspect who was in his yard, drew his licensed handgun and discharged several rounds at the vehicle, hitting the victims about their bodies.
Police were informed and responded promptly. The victims were rushed to the GPHC, Perreira was pronounced dead on arrival and Chacon is presently undergoing surgery. Her condition is listed as critical.

The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) on Monday reopened its Kitty Post Office, with the aim to maximise e-commerce in the country’s postal services.
In the feature address, Minister of Telecommunications, Cathy Hughes explained that the GPOC is dedicated to pushing more services online.

“We will provide all essential services inclusive of bill payments, parcel posts, express mail services, money order transfer, package delivery and both online shoppers in local and overseas mail,” Brown explained.
Meanwhile, Director of Corporate Affairs, Rev. Dr Murtland Raphael Massiah charged the staff of the post office to approach their duties with a new attitude.
“One of the major differences between the developed world and the underdeveloped nations is attitude…if we are really going to break through we have to change our attitude,” Massiah expressed.
The GPOC plans to refurbish other post offices next year in New Amsterdam, Buxton, Charlestown, Sisters, Anna Regina and Soesdyke to reflect the same modern layout.

Residents of William and Queen streets, Kitty, have been waiting for almost two weeks for their garbage to be picked up.

The frustrated residents have said the bins were placed on the roadway with the expectation that they would be emptied last Tuesday, but this has not been the case as they are still waiting.
