I would recommended you don't buy/lease new.  When you buy/lease a new car you have to pay a ton in extra fees like PDI and handling etc.  Try and find something just off lease or 1-2 year old with low KM's and serviced at the dealer.  You'll avoid all those extra fees which can add up to $5000+ and it's still a practically new vehicle.  Have fun. 8)

very good advice - i was thinking to maybe look into a demo...not alot of clicks and go from there.

the extra fees your talking about - thats the taxes, levies etc?

No not taxes.  The gov't will always get paid. 8)  It's things like PDI, Freight and handling fees that the dealers have to pay to get a new car on their lot.  They then pass on these expenses to the buyer.  If however, you buy or lease a used car you don't have to pay these fees.

If you're buying off-lease or used make sure that the car has been serviced at the dealer so the warranty is still good.  Get copies of all service records by the previous owner(s).  Also, if you want an added level of due diligence, reserve the right to have the vehicle inspected by your own mechanic before your purchase.  Finally, the rule of thumb with buying a car (new or used) is make sure the monthly payments does not exceed 20% of your monthly salary (net).  So if your monthly salary is $5000 your monthly payments should not exceed $1000.00.

so i went to the dealership in Woodbridge

i should have known better than to go there.

a 47k vehicle quickly became a 65k vehicle.

while i love this car...i am not willing to shell out that much for a car.

im going to wait and look around again...maybe in oakville or at the autotrader

@ Nargis.  Was this a new car?  Generally if the sticker price is say $40,000.00 you can negotiate at least $5000 down from that sticker price if the car is used.  New cars are always harder to negotiate a reduction in sticker price.

I say wait till spring when you can go around to different dealers in sunshine, warmth, and comfort and get the car your really wanted and can also afford.
