German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has defended Israeli actions in Gaza and urged Hamas to stop rocket attacks. ''Hamas bears responsibility for this latest escalation,'' he told German radio.

As always, the people who suffer most on both sides are innocent civilians, often children. People all over the world are picking sides, but who's going to pick theirs? Not the cynical hawks in the Knesset or Hamas.
