maybe to pay for the supplies to the hotel and wages. then again ...most or all of the supply businesses in the region are owned by forriners...
so what goes to the caribbean: wages that are low anyway. plus repairs tot eh hotels..if those are nbot an expense forced on the regional government.
if I am not mistaken those hotels have been built by local money are owned by the governments who must repair them..keep them in good order.
the hotels are run for a fee by forrin contract...management contracts.
it is another example of making money at lowest cost possible. all those governments are already compromised by haveing given up the money to the forriner at independece. they have no leverage when making deals with forriners. they cant say to making deals in the first place, on anything the forriner wants to do in the region. and the deals are always made in the most exploitative way of the westindian people
so in the end tourism does not contribute a cent to the westindies in terms of profit. it is another rapcious form of exploitation that scorches the westindian earth as it passes o\ver it
