Georgetown used to be known as the Garden City. Now it's in a terrible state - sad really.
I saw a youtube video showing 63 beach. How folks can party and just ignore the rubbish scattered all around them is beyond my understanding.

Dude...if they were to have that beach privately managed then that would not be happening...it is really rather simple. But the beach is free, cars damage the roads, and everyone takes their garbage there and leave it. There are no garbage bins available as receptacles. So the situation is really one of neglect from the village council, to the organizers and the patrons.

Privately managed? Only if someone in authority kept a close eye on the private company.
A fellow who returned to Guyana wrote a book about the rampant corruption that exists and the rip off at all costs attitude that seems to exist.
It seems as if no one is held accountable for anything that happens in Guyana - it's the veritable wild west.
