Chris Ram receives death threat

Chartered Accountant and television talk show host, Christopher Ram on Friday said he has lodged a complaint with police that he received a life-threatening email purportedly from an address assocciated with the governing Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPPC).
Ram told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that he gave a statement to an officer at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, Eve Leary. Top police officers could not be contacted immediately but Ram said police told him that they would have to work with the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) in tracking down the origin of the e-mail.
A PPPC official, when contacted, did not immediately offer a comment.
Presumably, that would include tracking down the Internet Protocol (IP) from which the mail originated. The email address pppcguyana@gmail.com is associated with the PPPC’s Facebook.A web-search also revealed that reference was also made to the phone number of the PPPC’s eadquarters next to the e-mail address.
Ram had assisted the seven-seat Alliance For Change (AFC) in searching for budgetary cuts. The AFC then met with A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) to discuss the Ram-cuts and later teamed up to slash the GUY$192.8 billion by almost GUY$20 billion. The opposition’s scissors saw funding to the National Communications Network (NCN), Government Information Agency (GINA), Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL), Office of the President, Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) and the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU).
Ram is one of several Attorneys-at-Law in a libel case brought against newspaper columnist, Freddie Kissoon by former President , Bharrat Jagdeo. He is also a fierce critic of the government, particularly in the areas of governance and financial accountability.
