West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara has called for former Pakistan captain Imran Khan to receive proper, independent medical care and humane treatment in prison, saying his appeal is about “basic humanity,” not politics.
Khan served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister between 2018 and 2022. Lara said he stood with other former International Cricket Captains in calling for Khan’s welfare to be addressed.
Lara said the struggles to understand how someone who was once a “beacon of hope, pride and inspiration” for Pakistan could now be in circumstances where he was not receiving the care and dignity he deserved.
