Moeen Ali secures IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings

Moeen Ali will be back in the Indian Premier League in 2021 after securing a lucrative contract with Chennai Super Kings.

Moeen, who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore last month, was picked up for 7crore (£692,000) in the mini IPL auction in Chennai on Thursday.

The England allrounder was at the centre of a bidding war between CSK and Punjab Kings - formerly known as Kings XI Punjab - with Super Kings eventually winning out.

Moeen has played 19 matches in his career, accumulating 309 runs at a strike rate of 158. He has 10 wickets, and an economy of 7.14, with the ball.
