New York/Hong Kong (CNN Business)
Markets in Asia and Europe staged a recovery Tuesday, and the Dow soared 800 points a day after

novel coronavirus fears

and an oil price war

sparked a worldwide panic.

The Dow (INDU) soared 3.3%. The S&P 500 (SPX) rose 2.9% and the Nasdaq (COMP) was up 2.7%.

It was an ugly day in the oil market -- the ugliest since 1991.

Oil prices suffered an historic collapse Monday after Saudi Arabia shocked the market

by launching a price war against onetime ally Russia.

US oil prices crashed as much as 34% to a four-year low of $27.34 a barrel as traders brace for Saudi Arabia

to flood the market with crude in a bid to recapture market share.

Crude settled with a staggering loss of nearly 26% to settle at $31.13 a barrel.

Brent crude, the global benchmark, plunged 24% to close at $33.36 a barrel.

Both oil contracts fell to four-year lows.

Stocks Rally as Trump and Business Leaders Pledge Support :

By The New York Times

Dow Jones Industrial Average surges 1,985 points

Hopes of fiscal stimulus, more tests lift stocks

Travel stocks jump

What happens next?

Wall Street will be on the lookout for any signs of U.S. fiscal stimulus.
Investors also will be on the lookout for any signs the virus is spreading further.

Travel stocks crash. The whole market down after the Feds cut interest rates. Dumb move by the Feds. You can't stimulate demand when there are no goods to fulfil demand. Just look at the panic buying.
