I watched this game and realized some truth about Houston Rockets. The Rockets are not a very good team, and they are not very well coached.
there has been a lot of talk about Mike D'Antoni as a genius coach. he is not. he was totally out-coached in this game By Alvin Gentry of the Pels. Gentry worked out a defense for Harden that trapped Harden all night, all but neutralized Harden which was the major factor in the Rockets loss
D'Antoni had no answer all night long. all night long Harden kept getting trapped and Houston made no adjustments..nada, none. Harden had the hardest of nights, could not score for long periods and only broke away at the end when it was too late for a Houston win.
in fact by midway through the fourth quarter Houston had for sure, already lost the game. Harden kept his streak of 30+ games going by sheer ability. Harden is a superior player and that, and only that has Houston in with a chance in the NBA sweeps.
but Harden alone wont be enough in the playoffs. the Rockets may wain an opening series but that's it. they will be beaten and tossed by the second round. the Rockets will have to be retooled next season.
the Rockets need a stronger cast to supplement Harden..and to a lesser degree Chris Paul... who is nowhere near what he used to be. this Rockets team is weak, its coach just ok..not great
