Day 1: Stumps - Australia trail by 262 runs

Australia came out facing a tricky 7 overs before stumps and Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas to be precise, prised out two wickets, including last game hero Khawaja. There is a bit of help for the bowlers with the new ball on this pitch. Australia will have to be sensible with the bat. Not going to be easy against the spinners too. You may as well say Pakistan have their noses slightly ahead at this stage. Tomorrow promises to be exciting. Join us back at 10:00 local time for Day 2 action.

What a day! 12 wickets fell - the first time that's happened on Day 1 in Abu Dhabi. Nathan Lyon stunned Australia with a 4-wicket haul in six balls before lunch, but a brilliant counter-attack from Sarfraz Ahmed helped the home team claw back. Australia looked clueless until the 147-run stand with Fakhar Zaman was broken by Labuschagne, who limited the damage as Pakistan could easily have posted a bigger total had both the set batsmen not been dismissed on 94.
