Three-time defending champions the Guyana Jaguars will fancy their chances against a relatively inexperienced Jamaican Scorpions side when the two franchises meet today in the opening round of Cricket West Indies Regional four – day tournament at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Scorpions will be banking on the services of Guyanese duo Assad Fudadin (the most experienced player in the side with 89 first-class appearances) and Trevon `Bugsy’ Griffith, for leadership and insight into the local conditions, especially for a unit with players who have little or in some cases no experience at the regional level.

Wet conditions have delayed the start of play on the opening day of the first round Digicel Regional first-class pink ball day/night match between Barbados Pride and Trinidad & Tobago Red Force at Kensington Oval today.
An inspection is due for 2 p.m., which was the original scheduled start of play.

In the penultimate round of the 2016/2017 season, Red Force defeated Pride by 130 runs at Kensington Oval in a day/night fixture. The teams will meet this season at the same venue in a day/night fixture starting at 3 pm in the opening round of this year’s campaign. Williams said his team’s victory over the Pride last season was not recent, but he is hopeful his team can get another win against their fierce rivals.
