My dad said Mr. Kanhai was dropped by West Indies selectors because he was had a bad series just like Chanderpaul did.  However, West Indies did recall Mr. Kanhai for the world cup after Mr. Sobers was unavailable.  My dad also told me that the year prior to the world cup, Mr. Kanhai had one of his most productive batting form.  This was after he was dropped and prior to being selected.  It seems he was on a mission to prove the selectors wrong.

My dad said that story is being repeated in Chanderpaul.

From what I heard, Mr. Maps, Richards failed in the last 9 years of his test career when you consider the high standards he set in the years prior to that.  I have heard some compared him to the Indian batsman, Sehwag.  They both had similar style of making much of their superior hand/eye coordination ability.
