Wrt to the British, prior to colonization India accounted for 25% of world GDP before the colonial era, and which was destroyed to 3% by the end of the colonial era., there was a wholesale destruction of local industry, making India a source of natural resources rather than industry. Even salt was supposed to be imported, along with textlies rather than being allowed to be made in India.
leave alone the natural disasters in that god forsaken country...
