I really like what I saw of Chase over the last year, and had been pushing for his inclusion in the Test side for a while now. Very glad to see him step up and show that he belongs on the biggest stage. This was a monumental performance with both bat and ball. Even more impressive was his determination to be there right til the end. Great fight and mental tenacity.
And by my research, just the fourth ever West Indian to achieve this feat, joining the aforementioned Sobers (who did so on two separate occasions), as well as Collie Smith and Denis Atkinson.
Chase is the only one of the four to have scored his century in WI second innings.
good game Chase...but Blacks set it up. the value of taking on an attack when you can do it. Blacks did it..twice and changed the flavor of the batting completely
I am going to give blacks his due here...Dowrich too. and the captain. fifty now along with his bowling which I will finally count, demonstrated some real attitude stiffness in lil Jase Holder.
lil' Jase is not really worthy as a bowler but together with his batting, if he has these emerging leadership qualities in spades he will worth his weight as cappo. the team definitely can use him in that way
