It begs the question, did it do any good? I read this whole article, and did a little Googling and couldn't find anything about when they changed the law/tax.
Makes me thinking, surely there was a better way? Apparently it got attention, and now she is being revered, hundreds of years later, but really, was that worth it? Apparently her husband didn't think so ...

I'm still wondering if this is real. And did hit happen recently? I don't see a date for this, it's so strange what people will do to themselves just to get their point across, I wonder what she felt like,
If I was her husband, I'm not sorry, but a divorce would be coming. If I had a woman who cut her own breast off, I'd be so sure as to what else she wouldn't care about cutting off.
