As I witness these events happening all over the planet, I couldn't help but notice that I never hear anything like that happening in India which is a good thing.

I wonder why terrorist choose specific location, and also what is India doing differently to prevent terrorism from happening.

Yes.

It was recently reported that since 2005 as many as 707 people have been killed and more than 3,200 injured in terrorist attacks in India.

Yes they have had quite a few of those incidents in India, but I don't think anywhere near as severe as some of the other countries who have experienced terrorism in the past years.

They do have a problem. But with such a large population, the impact is very small.

After seeing the other comment saying that it was only about 707 people that have died because of it, I actually would like to move out there now. They have over a billion citizens, and not even 1,000 have died because of terrorism in 11 years.

That's bad numbers, but probably the least worst of all other nations when looking at the percentage of kills other nations have by volume of the population.

No. This is not true. At all. Not even close.

India's Global Terrorism Index is 8.108 - 6th highest in the world.

From 2001-2008, India suffered 9.48% of all terrorist attacks, second most behind only Iraq, which accounted for 25.77%.

Between 2000-2014, India was the only country that featured in the top ten countries most affected by terrorism every single year. Afghanistan featured in the top 10 on 13 occasions, as did Pakistan.

Last year, more than 55 percent of all attacks took place in five countries (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Nigeria)

Quote:Communist terrorist groups are by far the most frequent perpetrators and the main cause of deaths in India. Two Maoist communist groups claimed responsibility for 172 deaths in 2014, which constitutes 41 per cent of all deaths from terrorism.

The Global Terrorism Index report (111 pages) can be read here: http://economicsandpeace.org/wp-content/...x-2015.pdf I strongly recommend reading through it all as it provides a wealth of information and dispels the notion that there is no/low terrorism in India.

Pictured below is a heat map showing the GTI for 2015 - as mentioned above, India ranks sixth highest. Top 5 countries are: Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan and Syria.

A terrorist killed Ghandi....

I guess like someone said here that the impact seems small because of the vast population, but it's not to say that it doesn't have the same horrific effect on those who are affected by it on a personal level.
