The Pittsburgh Penguins sank the San Jose Sharks 3-1 Monday night, bringing them within one game of bagging the Stanley Cup. The Penguins took a 3-1 series lead and could secure the championship Thursday night in Game 5 on home ice. Penguins defenseman Kris Letang called the long-shot team’s journey “surreal,†adding “everybody had kind of counted us out.†Defenseman Ian Cole, who scored his first postseason goal ever, added that “no one was happy with the way [the season] started.†A victory Thursday would bring Pittsburgh its fourth Stanley Cup title, and the first since 2009.
