Chandimal's tough day continues as he pushed too hard at that one from Jimmy. England pushing hard. Sri Lanka need a real captain's innings from Mathews. 53/3.

"With that Chandimal dismissal I conclude that Thirimanne should come in at 4.

In limited overs cricket I can understand why Chandimal is promoted up the order,

but I think he would do better at 6 or 7 in Tests."

" I think Chandimal is more suited to come at No.12/ 13"..... Harsh  Smile

Woakes into the attack and picks up a wicket almost immediately. Very curious review by Mathews, wonder how much not reviewing the lbw decision at Headingley played into this.

England in full control. 58/4.

Perhaps Mathews and Watson need to have a chat about reviews.

SL staring down the barrel again !.

Woakes with a second wicket. He has bowled beautifully and also with great pace. A very good game for him so far.

Now his THIRD !!

67 - 6 after 22 overs

Woakes to Siriwardana, oh dear, they are falling in heap here! Edges behind and it's another catch

Siriwardana c †Bairstow b Woakes  DUCK

England running riot in what is actually pretty good batting conditions with plenty of sun.

Woakes making the most of his opportunity. The only slight downside is Finn's lack of pace and rhythm.

#48
Woakes could have easily beaten his recent 9 for 36 here

if only he'd been given first bowl instead of Anderson & Broad  Wink

Superb rhythm from Woakes. His pace is up, his action impeccable - shades of Botham

Time for a bit of spin. Here's Moeen for a twirl.

Woakes takes a bow after an innings-shattering spell : 7-4-9-3  ~~

thats 7 overs, 4 maidens, 9 runs, 3 wickets

88 - 7

38.2
Broad to Herath, there's the end of the longest stand of the series. A good lifter from a full length,

nothing much Herath can do but squirt a spliced chance into the cordon.

Herath c Anderson b Broad 12
