Quote:The England women cricket team is scheduled to travel to the Caribbean Islands for a five-match One Day International (ODI) series in October. All the matches will be played in Jamaica, with the first two games at Trelawny Stadium, Montego Bay, while the remaining three matches will be played at the Sabina Park, Kingston.

The three matches in Sabina Park will also double up as a round of fixtures in England's ICC Women championship campaign. England are currently sixth in the championship and only the top four teams gain a direct entry to next year's Women's World Cup, to be hosted by five venues in England, during June-July, 2017.

"We all saw during the ICC Women's World T20 what a talented side they are, and they will be especially dangerous in home conditions," said England head coach Mark Robinson, about West Indies, who were recently crowned as the World Twenty20 champions. "It should be a really exciting tour and a challenge that we will relish," he added.

Schedule:

1st ODI: October 8th, Montego Bay
2nd ODI: October 10th, Montego Bay
3rd ODI: October 14th, Kingston
4th ODI: October 16th, Kingston
5th ODI: October 19th, Kingston

I know the West Windies women will welcome this challenge. I believe they have what it takes to defeat the English women. I do hope, however, the West Indies Cricket Board will do all it can to generate interest in this tournament because in the past when the women are playing the coverage is generally low-keyed. The women are winners and should be afforded the respect that they deserve andย  it seems that they have been doing better than the men in the near past.

I have to admit that I don't think that I've watched a women's cricket match in my life, but tours like this can only do the sport good.

Gone are the days when men dominated sports, so while I think some people might not like the fact that women are playing more sports than ever, it's only going to be more and more popular in the future.
