I now believe that these fires were deliberately set.
Let's look at the facts. There has been a loss of 1000 000jobs in the  oil sector and related industries in the past year whose unemployment insurance are about to run out . Rebuilding the infrastructure will create 100,000 jobs , The damages  about 18billion dollars will be covered by insurance and reinsurance  companies  . The insurance companies will not be able to cover this and  ultimately the taxpayers through Govt will pay .
This is not dissimilar to the GM and TARP  bailout with probably one insurance company being sacrificed like AIG  in the past bailouts
Canada is in the forefront in fire fighting technology and they are telling me that this fire cannot be contained. As a matter of fact the water bomber aircraft was invented by Bombardier aircraft , a Canadian company' There are numerous lakes in the vicinity of these  fires and still they could not control these fires. I cannot buy this
Another angle that worth noting is that oil prices has spiked  since this fire . Coincidence? I think not . This is the leading oil producing area  of Alberta.

This isn't the first time we see an inside job to claim insurance. It's a very commonplace phenomenon globaly especially with huge enteprises that failed to rise to the occasion.

Also your spin with the oil prices is spot on, but I think the oil that was wasted in that fire isn't nearly enough to make a dent on the falling the prices as there is a surplus of oil stored by drilling companies all over the world. In my opinion it's much more likely that the prices devastated that particular company so much that it was led to self-destuction, literaly.

Insurance cannot AFFORD that pay out !

Gonna be a taxpayer Bail Out !

This an interesting revelation. However, you could be right but this pure speculation, therefore, it's not easy to agree with your assumptions. there have been many fires of similar proportions around the globe at various times. We all know how nature can be very unpredictable and devastating at times. I hope there will be some investigation into this event and probably there may be some insight into what was the real cause of the fire.
