Funny how things have changed. 18 years ago when she died, no one seemed to have noticed how she tried to keep people poor.
The reason why China and India have progressed and why parts of Africa have not, is because the former refused western help (and they didn't exactly get help when asked- case in point India asking for a supercomputer to help with medicine, space, etc. in the 80s or China asking for tech transfer to boost manufacturing in the 70s).
The whole BS about charities working is just BS. Africa needs to solve its own problems. And they need to keep westerners out if they want to turn the place around. All they'll keep doing is portraying Africa as poor and filthy, which is funny because when I was in Senegal and a few other places, i actually found those places to be much better than a lot of western cities. But, what do I know, ask the white man how the world beyond western countries is so so bad
