Pattinson has suffered a recurrence of shin stress problems and won't play domestic cricket again this year.

Quote:"These scans have shown some inflammation around the shin consistent with bone stress," physiotherapist David Beakley said on Tuesday in a statement.

"James will now require some time off to allow this injury to resolve and will not be available for the remainder of the domestic cricket season."

Pattinson had spent the month prior to his latest Test comeback battling shin soreness.

"I have had sore shins for most of the year," he said on the eve of the Test.

"With shins, it's just about managing them. If you do keep playing with them, they can turn into fractures, which is something I didn't want to happen."

The shin injury is the latest ailment to worry the fast bowler, who has suffered major back injuries, a rib issue and hamstring strains in recent years - the 25-year-old has played just 17 Tests since his 2011 debut.

It is a genuine shame that he can't stay healthy. He is a phenomenal talent on his day. Australia's quick bowlers continue to suffer through injuries. Is there any relation to this and the hard pitches they bowl on?

All I can say from my experience when you drop on that foot prior to delivery

It is like a shock absorber on cars.... taking all your forward thrust body Weight

and either the knee or the shin takes the brunt !

AND if you are heavy set , then its gotta be ten times !

dunno how Whispering Death was able to be so Fast !

Dickie Bird claims he never heard a Foot pounding run up

and never slammed that left foot down HARD prior to release .

one of a kind I suppose !

maybe is the physio working these young blokes into the ground but geeeezzz just once I'd like to have Patto Starcy, and Cummins in the lineup. They've been highly touted for so long it seems
