PM Rowley says: Time for action to save WI cricket

Port of Spain: Caricom (Caribbean Community) heads have decided to end talks with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and seek legal counsel, says Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.

He disclosed this at a news conference at the VIP lounge at Piarco International airport on Thursday night upon his return from the Caricom Heads of Government Intercessional meeting in Belize.

Rowley noted that he had previous talks with Grenada Prime Minister Keith Mitchell on the matter when he visited that country earlier this year and the discussions continued among the Caricom heads.

“Caricom will now discontinue any further discussions on the matter with West Indies Cricket Board, the decision of the heads is that we insist that the recommendations of the committee be implemented. One of those recommendations is that the West Indies Cricket board be dissolved and that an interim body be put in place to begin the restricting of the management of West Indies cricket,” he said.

Time for less talk and more action? I think the time for more action and less talking was quite a while ago to be honest, and while I'm.not saying the WICB is beyond saving and there's a way back for west Indies cricket, as I always think there is, I'm just saying what they're going to do now (if anything) could probably have been done a long time ago.

Asked what he'd do to save Rasta cricket D. Trump said "we're gonna build a wall around the game and keep out idiots, egomaniacs, and incompetents...and the WICB will pay for it!" 

they just talk nonsense as windies will get dumped into the second division.

The board must come off its high horse and adapt to the times.  the board must reach out to the senior stars while showing faith in the talented youngsters.

CARICOM has made nothing happen so there is no hope really!
