Nine of the Index 10 main groups were in negative territory :

with five decliners for every two advancers.

Just spoke to my broker earlier today about my maturing GIC and he advised to go the mutual funds route

because historically the market has always bounced back - just look what happened in 2008 (I am no where close to losing as much as I did then)

also, every within every 5-yr period I have always been on the gain side

Canada's main stock index rose on Friday as crude oil prices rallied

and after U.S. retail sales data provided encouragement

It included a 3.6 percent gain for energy stocks

while financial sector stocks rose 1.5 percent.
