Canada’s main stock index fell over 1 per cent on Thursday, hitting a three-week low as a string of disappointing corporate earnings reports added to broad investor unease about the global economy.
The most influential weight on the index was Manulife Financial Corp, which slumped 10.34 per cent to $15.52 after the country’s largest insurer missed market estimates for the fourth quarter and said it would be difficult to achieve its core earnings target for 2016.

Toronto-Dominion Bank off 2.09 per cent at $48.66.

I am in a quandary.....
I have several GICs maturing and I don't want to put them back in GIC because of the almost non-existent interest rate
nervous about mutual funds because of the instability of the market
even though this is most likely the best time.....with market being low
what should I do???
my risk tolerance is medium/low
I plan to work for at least another 3 years

Telus Corp declined 2.1 percent to $38.99
after the telecom company reported a fall in quarterly profit, hurt by increased competition
and weaker demand for its wireless services
