Now That's What I Call Music! -cds

So I was always amazed by the sheer number of albums the "Now that's what I call music" cd series put out, besides genre specific mixes, holiday specials, and kid mixes, I had never expected them to last as long as they have. In the US, they have 56 of their greatest hits albums, but when I recently looked it up, in the UK They have NINETY-TWO. That's a ridiculous amount of cds! I don't even know of anyone who has bought any anytime recently! How are they staying in business!!!  :o

I forgot about those.  I remember seeing those advertisements all the time on television when I was younger, and to be honest, I did not really care for them then either.  They were always those songs that seemed to drive you crazy all on one CD, which did just not make that much sense to me.  I guess that a lot of people liked them though because they must have made about 50.

I think many people still love this music. And there are lots of people who would buy this because they are nostalgic or sentimental about old songs. I mean, I can even remember lyrics from songs years and years ago were hits. And they are truly a different kind of music, where they keep you calm and make you remember your younger days.

I think you're right, that probably has a lot to do with it. I guess it could be considered a memorial to the hits of years past. A sort of auditory testimonial to the culture of each year's music scene. Unfortunately it's usually just the most popular pop music, unless it's related to the specific genre. I suppose that's not all bad, and it seems to show a glimpse of your past. When you listen to the old cds I'm sure you're remember glimmers of your childhood and things you've done while listening to the songs. For example there have been some, specifically the ones with Rihanna songs on them, that I've listened to that just remind me of being a freshman in highschool, hanging out in the front yard of my friends house carving pumpkins.  :-*
