From espncricinfo:

Quote:"Aussie cricketers speak often of their love for the baggy green, and how Test cricket is always their No. 1 priority. However this idealism is backed up by the hard truth that it is still more lucrative to be a top-tier Australian Test cricketer than anything else. As the former captain Michael Clarke once said: "Governing bodies must prioritise player performance and payment in Test cricket."

But as the likes of Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and Lendl Simmons earn anywhere between Aus $65,000 (US $47,300 approx) and $120,000 (US $87,300 approx) for six weeks' work in the Big Bash League, the West Indies Test players are paid relatively meagre sums. Match fees were slashed from US $17,500 to $5,000 in 2014 as a result of an agreement between WIPA and the WICB that led to a mass walkout from that year's tour of India. By comparison, Australian cricketers are awarded Aus $15,450 (US $11,200 approx) per home Test, or $21,631 (US $15,700 approx) for overseas matches.

Contract retainers, meanwhile, provide an even wider discrepancy. The 12 WICB-contracted players are split into three categories earning between US $100,000 and $140,000. By contrast, the lowest ranked Australian contracted player, or the earner of an incremental contract like Peter Siddle or Usman Khawaja, will be the recipient of a deal worth Aus $250,000 (US $182,500 approx) in addition to their match payments. The top-contracted players, meanwhile, earn around Aus $1.5 million (US $1.1 approx).

Controvery over West Indian player payments has simmered ever since the catastrophic events of the India tour abandonment, which effectively ended the international careers of numerous players including Bravo. The deal struck between the WICB and WIPA had been intended to share the Caribbean game's revenue more evenly, factoring in the introduction of a fully professional regional first-class competition that is now in operation.

Another problem Lloyd highlighted was that of preparation time for tours. West Indies played their first Test in Hobart off the back of only one fixture in Brisbane, which a jetlagged XI lost conclusively to a team of developmental Australian players - many of whom making their first-class debuts. The expense of accommodating players for longer tours is a problem for West Indies, as is a poor bargaining position when scheduling tours with stronger nations.

"If a team comes to any country they should be able to play enough warm-up games to get accustomed to the conditions," he said. "We've travelled 12,000 miles and it's different here. We have jetlag, there's the heat, the hardness of the grounds, it's just getting accustomed to a lot of things and two four-day games would probably have put us in good stead.

"I've said that when I was chairman of ICC [cricket committee], that if we have young players - you can't blood a player on tour any more. We had a four-day game and two-day game, we had to play the guys we think will be good enough in the Test matches. Gone are the days when we came here in September or October and left in February. After the first month, we'd eaten everything on the menu.

"The point is we played a lot of games, we got accustomed to the conditions and you give a good account of yourself. It showed in the last game [at the MCG], we batted fairly well on a pretty good Test pitch, so I'm sure the guys will give a good account of themselves in the long run. It will take some time to build a Test team because we've lost - what, 10 of our players are playing the one-day format of the game. We have to try and look to build a team that's going to stand us in good stead for the future."

How much of a future West Indies can have remains to be seen. But as the figures show, they are presently playing - and losing - an unfair game."

you see to me that is not such a problem..this scheduling of tours with stronger nations at out disadvantage.ย  I don't have to accept it.ย  that's the point.ย  IF I KNOW WHAT I AM ASKED TO DO REDOUNDS TO MY SIGNIFICANT DISADVANTAGE, CONTRIBUTES IN NO WAY POSITIVELY TO MY CURRENT AND LONG TERM STATUS, I SIMPLY WONT DO IT

if I cant get any terms at all from the Oz or the English or the Indians, that provides west indies with some acceptable benefits then I will not tour.ย  that is spinning top in mud, a weakening not a strengthening, over the long term.ย  might as well commit suicide and finish with it.

15 years of doing that west indies are weaker now than ever and going down to elimination.ย  what is the point then ::confused::

the key is to continue playing international cricket so whom can I engage ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::..

the weaker teams at the moment ::confused::

fine!ย  that to me represents a fine opportunity to rebuild strength and interestingly, undermine the current ICC status at the same time.ย

if in the process while rebuilding myself, we, I, can lead and raise Zimbabawe, Kenya, Bang etc... up to the rafters in tandem as buddies and partners... maybe Lanka depending on how they are disposed to the Trio..Pak too...we energize cricket in and across our own regions as spectator sport once again, make money...we have a balance and a possible overthrow of OZ, India and England and a likely restructuring of the game's admin into a real democracy

to my mind there is opportunity any where one looks.ย  it all depends on who the hell you are... if you are a stinking lackey, toadying up for your supper at the tail end of the Trios dinner table, where the trough is..where they toss the picked bones from up the top end... then you do not see where you can go with what you have.ย  you actually give them that to, what you have... and take the left overs same way.ย  you refuse even to eat the best food from your own table

in that way all west indian opportunity, the real ones we have, go a-begging, led by the absolutely degraded , monstrous sucking-up of a man like Skameran and his leadership cohort at Factory Road..the one he himself assembled.

allyuh have no idea of how totally ridiculous, how absolutely degraded and degrading. totally useless a man like Skameron is.ย  there are no redeeming values to a person like him..absolutely none.ย  and dangerous too he is... for he has a whole lot of ability and charm, that devil... which he has put at the disposal of evil in the west indies.ย

it is not only about getting rid of Skameran a devil, but the destruction of the process and structure that allows such as he to rise to power in the region.ย  which is why I can't understand why the Caricom engages in a debate on the removal and dissolution of the wicb...what is a renegade, retrograde, dissolute and corrupt organization, oneย  that is the problem itself... with that very organization itself::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::

what does or did the Caricom ministerial committee expect in answer from the devil..an agreement with its own dissolution, its own elimination ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::

by that all they did was to give Skameran a chance to save himself, to come out and build a jackass, even if convincing case for the wicb to remain as it is. that is all he can do..spin lies into seemingly plausible reality to save his rotten wicb dispensation

I INSIST BY THIS ARGUMENT THAT CARICOM IS NOT SERIOUS ABOUT CRICKET REFORM.ย  THIS IS NOTHING BUT CARICOM PREVARICATION AND FEAR OF INTERNATIONAL REPERCUSSION FROM THE ICC... WHICH THE CARICOM BUREAUCRATS DO NOT WANT..NOT AT ALL.

THOSE INTERNATIONAL WHITE PEOPLE ARE THEIR MASTERS IN ALL FORMS, AND THEY DO NOT WISH TO DRAW TO THEMSELVES THE WRATH OF THEIR ECONOMIC, POLITICAL AND ENFORCEMENT POWER CENTRES..WASHINGTON/LONDON...TO BE SEEN BY WASHINGTON/LONDON TO BE WORKING IN THE INTEREST OF THE WEST INDIAN ORDINARY PEOPLE.ย

WEST INDIAN BUREAUCRATS FEAR THAT MORE THAN GOD HIMSELF

that to my mind is what is responsible for this ridiculous charade between skameron and caricom.ย  the wicb is a ridiculous little NGO which the Caricom in general agreement can sweep away at any dam time.ย  what the frig are they INDEPENDENT NATIONS FOR THEN ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::

independent nations can meet and agree to collective action on any issue within their sphere of collective interest.ย  that is all.ย

and let the friggin' corrupt ICC do as it may. let them go to the international court about it and we will be ready for they rarse.ย  the ICC has no jurisdiction or right or authority to dictate to any nation..or group of nations... what they can or cannot do in response to issues within their national jurisdiction, on decisions collectively and democratically arrived at.ย  that is ridiculous and egregious over-reach.

the point is that the cricket is so bad in the west indies, so poorly run, is now such a big scandal..international scandal... that the governments have to act.....
