While that might be the case and I agree to a certain extent that relegation isn't the answer, at the same time there's no chance that the board are going to do what a best and what's right for west Indies cricket.

Maybe relegation is the short, sharp, shock they'll need to sort things out once and for all?

Always best to treat the problem.

Once structures are created, more difficult to dismantle.

I appreciate running cricket in a unique environment as the Windies is challenging but there seems no one in power has the will to make changes in favour of riding the gravy train.

Effectively the stance taken by the WICB is one taken by the majority of stakeholder boards so the status quo continues.

If they withdrew all their members, the WICB will die so CARICOM made do better to meet with each individually.

This continued mismanagement, one might think, should be an embarrassment but oh no it appears to be bad business as usual.

That is a very interesting question. What draws a bigger crowd - playing against the world's best players but being noncompetitive and losing every Test or beating up on no name second tier teams?

The trouble is, if the west Indies aren't careful, they're going to become one of those no name, 2nd tier teams that your talking about.

Ireland was a No name team , so was  Zimbabwe and Bangladesh

West Indies will be the 4th team along with either Scot or Afghan

Tier 1 :

2.England
3.Australia
4.New Zealand
5.South Africa
6.India

Tier 2 :
1.West Indies
2.Sri Lanka
3.Bangladesh
4.Zimbabwe
5.Ireland
6.Afghanistan/Scotland

Canada/ USA or combined

Best of 3 : TEST series

Round Robin ODI series

5 and 6th places gets relegated in Tier1

1st and 2nd places in Tier 2 : gets promoted to Tier 1

Hooowwwzzzz  Daaattttt  ??    :-\

I like the idea in theory, but imagine the uproar should England or Australia be relegated and there are no more Ashes series. No Ashes series would be catastrophic for Test cricket.

Fear of Loss

should NOT override the

Opportunity to Gain :

Test cricket revival, IMO !  Wink
