The Opposition People’s Progressive Party has decided that it will only consult with the government on the 2016 national budget after it gets copies of several audit reports and the Guysuco Commission of Inquiry report.
The PPP was expected to attend a budget consultation session with the government last Friday but cancelled the meeting late Thursday by sending a list of demands to the Finance Minister.
A number of the reports that the PPP is requesting, are still to make it to cabinet and released to the public.
The government has indicated that it is looking to present an early budget next year, possibly in January.
On Saturday, Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo confirmed that the PPP has requested a number of reports from the government.
He said the opposition would like to see the recommendations made in those reports so that his party could incorporate them as part of its presentation to the budget consultations.
PPP Member of Parliament, Irfaan Ali, last week criticized the government for its move to present a budget early in the new year. Mr. Ali said a number of capital works under the current budget year are still to be complete.

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo on Saturday spared no words as he accused the government of massive corruption with the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indian company, Fedders Lloyd that will see works restarting on the construction of the Specialty Hospital.
The former President said the signing of the MOU lacks transparency and raises several questions.
“There is no transparency, particularly with Ramjattan’s role with this company,” he declared.

Someone is performing Geriatric Gymnastics...and their bloomers are showing. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

The DPP Mrs. Hack is a benefactor of this said deal. BJ keeps telling them...he did not sell any land...that was done by the NCIL...the man bought the land and developed, then sell for a profit. Not sure where the wrong doing is here. But let the geriatric hero sprint ahead...I will walk by quietly. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Say what you will...you gotta like BJ's tenacity. The man has the PNC backpedalling every step of the way. If this was a boxing match, I would say BJ has them on the ropes. The PNC looks like an old, worn, inept, and out of place unti, that is way over their heads. I do remember making a statement to that effect and Mes was ticked....saying that it was too early. However she has seen the light. Amen!
