Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo, who has been on the receiving end of public demand in an attempt to have him declare his assets,

as however paid no taxes since his salary as President was tax free and he has been earning a pension since demitting office

which would account for more than 10 years.

The maneuvre is but one in many employed by the former President to avoid declaring his accumulated wealth :

during his more than two decades in public office

firstly in the Ministry of Finance and as President.

On the matter of his wealth and seaside mansion,

Jagdeo had claimed that his “affairs is a public book.”  :-[

I think it is strange he does not declare his wealth and has even remained tax free which means he is quite wealthy and this could mean he has a lot of friends and may feel he has power as he has a lot of money in his hand. It is interesting to see someone who says they are upfront, but when it comes to declaring the income they have reasons or try and hide it so other people don't learn about the income they have which is strange and surprising. I don't think he needs a pension as he has a lot of wealth to support himself and his family and that should be given to the common people in the country who deserve it and need it more then him.
