One judges a government performance on its five year rule. Would you judge a meal by watching how much salt or pepper is added after say five minutes of being on the fire?
The PPP introduced the hard drugs trade and left the country unprotected from violent crimes. Even more so when they allowed hardcore criminals evicted from the US to roam the country and murder at will.
The seawall has not been improved, leaving Georgetown under constant flooding fears.
The Chinese were given unprecedented permission to steal our trees and export them against the contracts agreed.
The PPP allowed the hinterland to be polluted with some dangerous material used by the gold diggers, and logging to take place unchecked, leaving the place decimated.
Roger Khan and many others were heavily involved in the drugs trade. Export of drugs was even increased after the building of the private drugs loading bay at the airport. The current government is struggling to shoot enough of those PPP bandits dead. Not enough money for bullets.
Electricity and water supplies are one of the worst in South America. The PPP did next to nothing to make improvements from the day they entered office.

So why don't the current government re-open the case? Well, given their urgency to close Rodney's inquiry, I am not so sure they are really trigger happy in solving cold cases.

It is in fact very relevant. One reason why Guyana is only surpassed by Haiti in its backwardness in the Western hemisphere is because Guyanese talk big and make outlandish promises that are never going to be kept. The PPP seized power when countries like China, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Bahrain, etc were not much better in looks and facilities than Guyana. Now after 23 years of lack of progress it is not going to happen overnight. The PPP has decimated the potential workforce that would be required, and raided the finances. All this talk about how bad the new AFC government is doing is purely to hide behind the PPP failure to keep pace with the rest of the world. Instead the PPP aims were to keep ahead of Haiti.
Why would you need a driver when the fire engine is just yards away? Just run the damn hoses from the fire engine to the burning building. The hoses are long enough to do that.
GPL was put in the state that it is in by the PPP. The PPP let them friends rob the company of its transformers, and even gave Pradoville free or near free electricity. The AFC government should make an action plan on how to repossess those transformers, and bill the people who have been getting free electricity.
