Phil Simmons: Outside interference kept Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard out

Well the wicb obviously thinks the team can go on a 45 days tour without their head coach so there was no need to have hired Simmons in the first place!

Phil Simmons' future as West Indies coach hangs in the balance after the disciplinary hearing against him was deferred to next week. ESPNcricinfo understands that Simmons had been asked to present himself on Saturday in front of a human resources panel from the West Indies Cricket Board. On September 30, the WICB had indicated that Simmons's future would be sorted in a week.

Surprised at the lack of notice period given to him, Simmons' lawyers responded to the WICB, saying Simmons could not make himself available without an advance alert and requested the hearing be rescheduled to next week. It is learned that the WICB agreed, but no date has been set yet.

It looks as though the disciplinary hearing has been postponed until next week at the earliest although no date has been agreed to as of yet.

Simmons at this point is not being disciplined, according to an official of the WICB. “He made comments that did not find favour with the board and they have set up a committee to hear from him. He did not accuse anyone specifically, he did not say whether that ‘interference’ came from the board, so at this moment it is just purely an investigation to see whether there was anything that he did that warrants him facing the disciplinary committee.”

He was the coach of Ireland for many years with so much dignity and respect, made a big mistake to join West Indian team as a coach.WICB in a nut shell can be summarised as a "painful joke".

The accusations made by Simmons against three of the selectors (Courtney Browne, Courtney Walsh and Baptiste) is a serious one because what he is actually alleging is that the trio did not act independently. This could cause tremendous discomfort amongst the selection panel and in moving forward the matter of trust will take centre stage.

Maybe these postponements is just a delaying tactic to keep Simmons out for the duration of the Sri Lanka tour.

West Indies cricket captain Jason Holder yesterday said that the suspension of coach Phil Simmons from the team currently in Sri Lanka was a setback for the team.

Simmons and his lawyers asked for the postponement of the meeting claiming they were not given advance warning and needed more time to present their case.
