Canada's Dept. of Foreign Affairs warns against all travel to Manu region of Peru, including the National Park of Manu in Madre de Dios following report of kidnapped tourists

It’s not the first time I hear this kind of stuff about Peru. I read a story of a man from Alaska who was in Peru three years ago and got kidnapped by two young men. After robbing everything he had they threw him and his puppy down a cliff. His dog didn’t make it, but somehow this man fell on some branches that buffered his fall. He spent one whole night in that cliff with his leg and collarbone broken and still managed to climb up to get rescued by a family.

To me this is disturbing since I’m going to Machu Picchu in November to do the Inca Trail.

This goes to show that some people want to make a living by getting money freely and not by hard work, which is needed and hope more is done so this kind of thing is stopped. The government in the country needs to do more so that this sort of thing is minimized, and people know there will be harsh consequences for doing this sort of thing. I reckon that kidnappings are something that should be taken very seriously as the victim can be harmed or even end up dead which will be sad for the families.
