A Queens judge Wednesday hammered a family of con artists with a combined 418-year prison sentence for duping fellow Caribbean immigrants out of $1.8 million of their life savings.
Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holderslammed the Ramsundar family — daughter Shantal, 23, and parents Shane, 52, and Gomatee, 48, — as “the most despicable gang of criminals to ever sit in front of me.”
“You and I know that if you did this fraud and paraded and strutted around in front of your own people, in your own country, you probably would have all been hacked to death,” Holder told the family, which hails from Trinidad. “But not in this country. Now it’s your time to hear your return on your investment for your crime,” the judge said.

The daughter is only 23 years old with a max sentence of 30 years !

IF she is released in 10 years : she still young at 33 years old !

When I first read your post I thought it was 1.8 dollars, but then in the article I noticed it was 1.8 millions! They deserve this, I’m glad the judge did this. I hate those people that go through life making people suffer this way. It’s very unfair that you work hard and then others come to take away what you worked so hard for. I only hope they don’t let the daughter out too soon, she is as guilty as her parents, she’s old enough.

How many Wall street banksters criminals are in jail?, None . The justice system  only    goes after small time financial criminals especially people of color..
Restitution and community service would have been a just sentence.

Even if he was the person they claimed had committed credit card fraud (which he wasn't), that doesn't really explain the brutality. Blake didn't run. It appears an ugly racial double standard exists in which brute force is needed to arrest a peaceful black man suspected of committing a white collar crime, when comparable force isn't used on white suspects accused of even more egregious crimes.[/color][/size]

a crime is a crime regardless of color or "blindness" of the justice system.
