the last time I was there..not even 10 years ago...I stayed in Barataria. I walk outside anytime of day or night and get taxi  east, west on the eastern main road.

anywhere I went I get taxi to go and come and no traffic to talk about.

and there are buses too.  the fact is that people can get to and from where they want at any time of day or night even if there is a little difficulty here and there
