5 Women Beaten to Death in India

Five women accused of practicing witchcraft were beaten to death in India Saturday after they were blamed for a village’s recent misfortunes. The women, from Kinjia village in Jharkhand state, were taken from their homes and beaten with sticks and iron rods, according to Arun Kumar Singh, a deputy inspector-general of police. Around 50 people have been arrested in the attack. “In the age of knowledge, this incident is sorrowful. Society should ponder over it,” Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said in a statement.

This is crazy.  Indians in remote villages are uncivilized.

The problem in the village areas or rural ones the people believe in superstition and think someone must be doing something to harm the others and in this case lead to 5 women to be killed for witchcraft. I reckon that the people need to wake up and not jump to those sort of connections, as they should see what could they have done to improve the bad times they had in the village and improved on them. It goes to show that there are many who do believe in these sort of things, and maybe the village leader has this sort of influence and using the people for his own influence.
