MINISTER of Foreign Affairs, Carl Greenidge yesterday said Venezuela is harping on its claim to the Essequibo based on suspicion arising from a man who wanted to make a “confession†but who virtually became a “jumbie†before he died.The person the Minister of Foreign Affairs was referring to was Severo Mallet-Prevost, a junior member of the team that argued Venezuela’s case before the 1899 Arbitral Tribunal in Paris.
In 1899, when the Tribunal awarded territory to Venezuela, he referred to it as a victory, but in 1944, as pointed out in a booklet by Allan A Fenty published in 1982, when he was given his country’s highest honour, he wrote a letter making a claim of collusion between Russia and Britain.
that land is in legal dispute under UN jurisdiction and international law.
Guyana is in contravention of that law and the conditions of the of land under dispute. allyuh go loose badly, anytime the advantage element is removed.
the advantage element is the USA, that respects no law in the world at all. the USA has taken Guyana completely away from the law and into illegality. if the USA cant, or wont protect allyuh at any time in future, allyuh completely on allyuh own.

I blame Guyana for not seizing the day. Guyana leadership has been ridiculous from day one. I thought the Indians would run Guyana better than the nig nogs. they have been worse really..and have opened up the door for the return of the worst of the nig nogs Granger...a Burnham official and an american lap dog.
what has happened here is a nightmare for VZA..the opening up of a third front they have to deal with..that puts an intolerable strain on their resources..exactly what the americans wanted in seeking to break them.
but that region under dispute..neither side have the people to populate it...and wont in a hurry.
Guyana at the rate is it is going will never be able to do anything with it. there is a common law that says ownership goes to the occupant. you cant occupy so its not yours.
no matter what then it made sense for Guyana to have begun something with that area by way of resolution by now...to get something out of it.
if it is full of resources and VZA could not afford for the americans to have come in and create a great pressure on them..then way back it would have been very smart for Bharrat to make Chavez aware of that, and that it was important for them to work to mutual benefit in the region.

now it would be legal if both parties to the dispute agreed on the exploitation of the region..but not one party to it.
that would have precluded the americans early, brought in the Chinese and Russians in exploration... and and the issue well on the way to resolution. talks on the population of the region..how that would be accomplished..the nature and politics of its organization, the sharing of the loot that comes in etc.
lots to talk about but that's fine. let it take time... and the loot is produced in the meantime and we will see. but that was a way to go
