Quote:England's new director of cricket, Andrew Strauss, appears likely to offer the position to Jason Gillespie, another South Australian who has made a name for himself in the north of England. Justin Langer has also been thrown up as a candidate but given he's seen by many as a natural successor to Lehmann, it's hard to see him switching loyalties to the oldest of enemies.

Gillespie has done an outstanding job as Yorkshire coach and stands to deliver the same kind of back-to-basics approach that Lehmann did to an Australian team that had been weighed down, despite best intentions, by wellness reports, work rates and the like and in some cases had stopped enjoying their cricket.

Quote:Andrew Strauss will begin the search for a new head coach after his appointment as the new director of England cricket and the sacking of Peter Moores, for the second time in his career, were belatedly confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board on Saturday.

No decision has been made yet. Gillespie appears to be the favourite but others in the mix include Langer, Farbrace, Collingwood and Moody.
