Coach of the West Indies cricket team Phil Simmons met with struggling West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul for a lengthy period on Monday in Barbados, as they discussed his future with the regional side.

T&T Guardian understands that coach Simmons did the responsible thing and called Chanderpaul for a meeting which from all reports went very well. It is unclear what was the decision at the end of the meeting, whether Chanderpaul will call it a day or continue on for the tough series against Australia.

Former Test player Philo Wallace recently made his views clear on Chanderpaul saying that he should be given the five home Tests (three against England and two against Australia) and then properly honoured by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for his services to the regional team.

* AUSTRALIA IN JUNEย  MUST ABSOLUTELY BE THE LAST SERIES FOR SHIV.

* One thing we are 100% sure of is Shiv's test average will not fall below 50 versus Australia.

* And if Shiv manages to score the 133 runs he needs to become the 12th batsman in history to reach 12,000 test runs, then that would be a nice bonus and a nice way to end a great career.

* Check out Shiv getting himself bowled to a ball 10 feet from his offstump----at the 9min 25sec marker---Shiv looks like he is going out not with a bang but a whimper. Big Grin I have never seen Shiv play such a tentative, atrocious shot----the great man is mentally shot.

Read this:

Quote:It is understood that the views of the West Indies selection panel is that it is up to Simmons to make a call on Chanderpaul and the Arima man decided to give the Guyanese his say in the matter because he has been a great servant of West Indies cricket.

Dont believe the usual Trini Comess/ Picong in the Press....ย  Tongue

* I always question everything I read.

* In my estimation the Aussie series should be Shiv's last, and even if he scores 400+ runs in the 2 tests---that should still be the end.

* Listen! Lara was sent packing 43 runs from 12K ----the WICB has no qualms sending Shiv packing 87 runs away from 11,953.

* Shiv should do the wise thing an announce his retirement.

* But Shiv is a stubborn man---he is not a quitter---he still believes he has it in him.

BOTTOM LINE:

* If Shiv doesn't announce his retirement---he'll de dropped after the Aussie series.
