Moores' job is safe and he will be around for the Ashes. Apparently the ECB will not take action now because it will make them seem like idiots for insisting that England's cricket is still in a good state.

Do you have a link confirming this or are you just speculating? England haven't even announced a new director yet and he will be the one to make the decision on Moores' fate. Nothing I have read indicates a decision about Moores' future has been decided one way or another.

You know that is Rowe's role as he has no links etc.

I suspect the new Director, if Vaughan, will have as part of his negotiations who will be Coach and Captain.

I really hope it is Vaughan as he seems to have some great ideas.

Strauss will do a good job but far too old establishment in my view akin to being bereft of ideas, muck like Cook and Moores.

Sadly, according to this article in The Telegraph, it looks as though Vaughan has taken himself out of the running. If true, this is a great shame. In his most recent article in The Telegraph, Vaughan argues that Lyth should have opened the batting and Rashid been selected. He is certainly more forward thinking and has some great ideas. Strauss will be more of the same, IMO.

Moores will be fearing the worst given Strauss has been a critic of his methods in the past and wrote in his autobiography last year that during his first stint as coach he suffocated the players with too much information and energy.

“What is required at the highest level is a coach who is able to calm players down, allowing them to play to their strengths…Moores’s philosophy that ‘energy cannot be saved, it can only be created’ ran contrary to that, ” wrote Strauss in his book, Driving Ambition.

Moores will be hoping Strauss takes his time over the decision giving him the summer to prove he has learned from the past and built a better relationship this time around with both senior and junior players.

Strauss is much closer to Alastair Cook, his former opening partner, which shores up his position as captain.
