Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott says players who are not in England's side for the 3rd Test against West Indies in Barbados should be allowed to return to play for their county sides, rather than stay with the squad in the Caribbean.
It comes after England refused a request from Yorkshire to allow Adil Rashid, who hasn't featured in the first two matches of the series, to be released from the Test squad to allow him to play in the County Championship.
"When the Test match starts in Barbados, as soon as it starts and the 11 play, the other two or three guys ought to go home and maybe get in that weekend's cricket for their county." Boycott said.
"Once they've pick the side you only need a couple of guys to do twelfth man if there's an injury and do drinks. There's at least three of them could go home and play."
In discussion with former England captain Michael Vaughan, Boycott says he would never have been happy to stay with a squad to make up the numbers.
"I never carried drinks! No way am I carrying drinks in a Test match," he said.
"I'd have said give me my passport and ticket I'm going home. I'm not sitting here watching them bat when I should be batting."
