WICB dumped Guyana as venue for England test

A fair amount in money in dis sport tourism business so Guyana miss out on England and Australia.

The actual playing area at Bourda was great back in the day but the facilities available for spectators were always abysmal particularly when the turnout was good.

Money talks these days and when a team like England comes calling the barmy army they bring with them does factor into where the games are played.

IMO Jamaica lost out big time with their lack of development of the Trelawney ground on the north coast.
I am not sure what guided that thinking but they would have been a shoo in for a test if they had a ground on the north coast.

Yes, no games in Guyana this year. The WICB should have pulled strings to get Shiv's retirement game played there.

Does anyone know the last international match played in Guyana?  I can't even remember it's been so long.

LOL, that's the difference right there. If you were in the pavilion you were fine - decent toilets, no overcrowding etc.

But any other stand was "hell" - overcrowding and doan talk bout trying to use the toilet during lunch or tea.

After that walking into the expansive Lords was like being in proverbial spectator heaven.
