Charles in for injured Bravo

Sydney - West Indies have been allowed to call-up Johnson Charles to replace batsman Darren Bravo who was ruled out of the World Cup with a hamstring injury.

Charles, a 26-year-old top order batsman, has played 30 ODIs in which he has scored 869 runs with two centuries and as many half-centuries.

His last ODI was against New Zealand in Hamilton in January 2014.

Bravo suffered a left hamstring injury in the 150-run win over Pakistan in Christchurch last weekend and missed Friday's 257-run defeat by South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The 26-year-old Trinidadian made 49 against Pakistan before he was forced to retire hurt.

West Indies have won two and lost two of their four matches so far and next play defending champions India in Perth on March 6

Knew they would go for a Bat...

After missing the South Africa tour because of personal issues, Bravo returned for the World Cup with mixed results.

He scored two ducks in four innings, including one in a warm-up game, and was on 49 when he retired hurt against Pakistan.

lissen. west indies cricket is beyond words to describe now the things they are doing up in there. 

I would like to see where this will end .  it shud be very interesting.  I cannot identify any pool of expertise in the west indies right now capable of saving west indies cricket.  in principle there should be but I don't see it.

the 'educated' people are educated into western neo liberal jackassness.  the cricket legends are a bunch of right wing fools and incompetents..not s decent idea in the heads of all together.  nowhere in that mix is anything near what it would take to solve the cricket.

These selectors are geniuses why was it that Deonarine Bravo and Pollard had been good enough to participate in the South Africa series a couple weeks ago but not good enough now to be named as a substitute for a damaged player?

So the logic of the West Indies selectors is to bring in a hit or miss player for a middle order batsman that usually adds stability to the batting order. I would have gone for Dwayne Bravo or even Shiv Chanderpaul to add stability to the batting lineup. Well good luck to the West Indies with 3 hit more miss batsmen in their team.

Oh well ! Imagine we cannot find a replacement for a fellah with 2 Ducks in the tourney ... ::LOL::
