Team for 3rd WI vs SA ODI?

It's impossible to field a good team for the 3rd ODI.

Simmons seems injured, Leon Johnson seems to be out of his depth, Dwayne Smith is Dwayne Smith, and we have no Roach or Narine. Gabriel and Cottrell also seem to be gone, meaning we have to rely on a bowling attack consisting mostly of all rounders.

We are basically 4 batsmen and 4 bowlers short of a competent team.

Patience is Virtue :

Proteas are at home : It is great exposure to face the deadliest bowlers at home !

Pakistan would have relished to be in West Indies shoes...

It's a bit late for Shiv to be playing ODIs now. I'd have slotted Kraigg Brathwaite into the ODI team as an opener, and given him Shiv's role of steering the ship.

That's a good point. But we're wasting "exposure" on people like Dwayne Smith. Who exactly is going to benefit from this exposure? Half these guys are old or will wash-out of the West Indies team, whilst the people who should be here and benefiting from exposure are injured or chickened out. The selectors will probably even drop Leon and Carter from this 3rd ODI, the two players most in need of "exposure".

3 Games to go : Leon and Jonathan will come good.

Then lesser bowlers than Steyn Morkel et al for the WC.

we already played Boult , Southee et al in the W.I.

Mitch and Oz tandem will be our challenge !

and of course Pak fast boysย  Wink

I'd keep Leon and Jonathan too. I like how Jonathan looked in the last game.

Who would you play instead of Smith?

I have always been partial to Phil's nephew, Lendl !

Tarzan could be tried down the order

problem is both he and Gayle are attackers and : neither wanna play 2nd fiddle !ย  :-[

Well assessed.

Allrounders Lloyd said he was getting away from!

Johnson has looked totally out of his depth but these young players have to grow on the job. The question is, has Johnson shown enough to secure the confidence to have that investment made in him?

I would say no!

Is Blackwood not in the squad?

I am not a Charles fan but Lloyd said he was trying a new start but with a man, Smith,ย  averaging 18 in 95 ODIs!

Well done Lloyd!

Yet another chair of selection being a puppet!
