West Indies cricket is owned by the supporters, not the WICB, and the WICB can do little without the financial support of the governments in the Caribbean.

It is the governments who provide the WICB with funds, venues, security, tax exemptions, duty free approvals, etc.

I am not saying that the governments want to or should control West Indies cricket, but they would demand from the WICB that they provide to the West Indies supporters good governance, good leadership and good management of West Indies cricket.

It's really not a good idea for dem governments to get involved.

World Cup 2007 was a total disaster and there was plenty government involvement.

I am not sure how much leverage de governments have since de WICB decides where games are played.

FOR EXAMPLE when England tour the barmy army is out in force and that means good news for the hotels etc.

WI cricket is going nowhere - it just dying a slow, somewhat painful death.

I think in the case of Pakistan and the Windies, Governments need to get involved.

The WICB act like a force onto themselves....

This has to cease as tehy need to be accountable.

The problem in the Caribbean is that there are what 10+ governments involved and each jealously guards their own interests.

FOR EXAMPLE I just cannot see the Barbados government going along with any muzzling of the WICB. I have not checked but I would bet my house that Barbados is an integral part of the England tour. In addition they now have the ODI captain and will soon have the test captain.

There is a lot of "wheeling and dealing" that goes on WRT to the WICB posts. Scratching of backs is the norm.

And when a government seeks to get involved as Gonsalves did he was left high and dry with zero leverage.

Can some one point out which of the govt is doing a good job at running their respective country
