Former West Indies batsman Desmond Haynes has hit back at former England bowler Bob Willisfor his comments saying that West Indies should now start playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. This comes after West Indies lost their Test series 2-0 to South Africa.

“Bob Willis just a short note to say that when we were beating England 5 nil at home and away no West Indies commentators suggested that England should be playing Bangladesh or Zimbabwe,” Haynes said on his Facebook page. He further went on to criticise the West Indies administrators for their poor performances off-late. Haynes said, “I blame our administrators because we are still having coaches from England and other places dealing with our youth”.

Haynes did not stop there, he went on to praise the West Indies side saying they have good talent in the squad. “Bob you said there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Let me tell you that we have some talent here in the West Indies. What we need is better administrators who can used the past players to show you the light at the end of the tunnel,” said the former right-handed batsman.

Haynes, one of the best batsmen of his time has scored 35 international centuries for West Indies in a illustrious career spanning 16 years.

Good call Dessie, I like your loyalty, but surely you cannot blame the incompetence 100% on the incompetent administration. It was like that during your time also.

I saw nothing really wrong here!

Poor mindset for test cricket.

Look at the silly Samuels!

Unnecessary!

While I applaud Dessie' loyalty let me ask this.

Why do these chaps keep calling for former players to run WI cricket?

Cricket is a business and should be run by business people.  If former players have demonstrated that they have the know how to run a large business, then they should be considered.

I don't recall the former players in WICB when WI team was on top!

Second point, the cupboard is bare!  Just look at the dungheap competition...chaps like Deo and Devon Smith keep topping the charts!

Lets face it,  Shiv at 40 is still outplaying most of the WI team. They are struggling to find a proper replacement.  They have not cemented the other spots in the team that is why they still need Shiv in there.

Exactly!. Quite a lot of people seem to think that good former players can be good admins and coaches.

That may be possible, but certainly not for most of the former cricketers.

You can point your finger at inept admins as much as you wish, that does not excuse the professionals from doing their jobs.

Bob Willis is damn right. WI need to be playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in test cricket.

Waste of time playing the top 4/5.

Haynes living in the past.
