I agree with your assessment of the Smiffs as far as it goes.
Ok
but there is more. DW can deal with pace far better than DV. he can hit Steyne and dem if he gets going..and hit them hard and often. and as horse for course he is more likely to get going there in RSA than anywhere else
Now that is a perspective I can understand as you are not suggesting he has been in better form over the last year, when his form has been in no technique slog fest!
You are not suggesting DwS is a better option than DeS because the latter is playing in a losing team, again rubbish!
Best of the worst option perhaps and you are saying DwS might be better than DeS based on the latter's record against pace! That is logical!
You are not using incorrect facts! Some cannot argue the numbers do not lie, when it relates to certain peole, but they do when it suits their misguided argument!
My view is they have both been tested and failed so given Fudas is an opening batsman and plays in that position for both the A Team and Guyana then let him open, do not try a failure! That is a retrograde step and Lloyd is wrong to have taken that decision in my view!
If that then leaves room for a middle order batsman then get a middle order batsman with promise and not invest in another one who continues to fail.
However if I HAD to choose between DeS and DwS, I would go for the former as he is an orthodox opener. Yes DwS will shape up as a bad boy but he will not last whereas DeS will intend to occupy the crease and taht is what you want from an opener.
that is why I came to realize..given the unavailability of so many others..DW should have been a first consideration for the team..for RSA and nowhere else. he would go to RSA score well come back, be pik on his success there and not score well, and be dropped same way...again. that is likely what would happen. but for this tour, that is what we want..someone who can deal with Morkel, Steyne and 'Philanderer' ::LOL:: ::LOL:: ::LOL::
If you have a man averaging 17 then he is not the first choice. If you weigh up things in the bigger picture you might come to that view. I would prefer to give a young guy the experience instead of investing in failures. Again everyone complained about Butts but it is Lloyd behind some strange decisions! I do not think any of the West Indians have particularly good techniques against quicks and Shiv had better be careful not to turn his head!
The question is which youngster would you take?
It is better to give a younger man like Barath another go than the likes of the Smiths if you want to support failure.
